Welcome

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the European Glaucoma Society, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 17th EGS Congress, to be held in Brussels from 30 May to 2 June 2026.

The theme of our Congress, inspired by a timeless Beatles classic, is “With a Little Help from Our Friends.” This reflects not only the enduring value of friendship and collaboration within the glaucoma community, but also our commitment to working hand in hand with other ophthalmic subspecialties, neuroscientists, bioengineers, patient advocates, and digital innovators. Together, we strive to shape the future of glaucoma care—more precise, more patient-centered, and more integrated than ever before.

We are proud to introduce several new highlights in Brussels:

A full Surgery Day, with plenary sessions, interactive courses, and hands-on drylabs, offering a deep dive into the art and science of glaucoma surgery.

A dedicated Imaging Half-Day, exploring cutting-edge technologies, from anterior segment OCT to hyperspectral and neuro-imaging.

And, true to our theme, plenary sessions co-developed with our “friends” in fields such as neurology, engineering, and health economics, bringing fresh insights and inspiring debates on where we’re heading.

Of course, no EGS Congress would be complete without meaningful interaction and lively discussion.

Brussels, a city at the crossroads of Europe and culture, will offer the perfect backdrop for what we believe will be a memorable, multidisciplinary, and forward-looking gathering.

We warmly invite you to join us—with a little help from your friends—at EGS 2026.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Brussels!
